Short Change Band - Back from Myrtle Beach, April, 2012

Greetings everyone, we have returned. Yep, the Short Change Band with family and friends headed down to Myrtle Beach for a bit of R & R last week for Easter. This year, the trip down was grueling. The traffic was awful. You could have chained all the cars and trucks together and we all would have gotten there about the same time as one big pack. The parking lot at the hotel was just jam filled with vehicles from New York. There were so many in fact, that I think half the hotel itself was occupied by the city of Ithaca alone. If you felt the state of New York shift a bit last Friday, that was probably because of the mass exit from the schools spring breakers.
When you finally get to the south land many people do not realize the 75 mile trip that still awaits you just to get from I-95 to the beach areas. Along the way you can see how well the change is working down there too as about 50% of the new strip malls and local businesses are just gone. Much has changed in commerce over the last two years in the south none of it good from what we seen.

We were able to play a bit of live music every day while we were down there though. Many of the resorts just started to open up the week of Easter and not much goes on before that. Fridays Show at Mcadoo's was a lot of fun. It was an acoustic and unplugged show right on the beach. It doesn't get much better. Keep in mind we did send out a ton of press kits dating back from right after Christmas and many of them came back undelivered. Well gee, I read in Friday’s paper that Myrtle Beach is still trying to decide which days the vendors permits will be good for when Bike Week comes to town in three and half weeks.

300,000 bikers come to town for their Spring Bike Week and they still haven't even figured out which day the vendors can open and when they are to leave. So I really didn't feel too bad at lost opportunities at that point.

Anyway, we must not have sucked too bad as the one place we did play a show asked us back next year for a full electric show and we have some other prospects in South Myrtle beach as well. It's all good. We'll be back.

On to the shows of the week: FRIDAY NIGHT- we’re back to Davy's located in downtown Chenango Forks - Show Time 9pm SATURDAY EVENING - LIVE AT THE CENTRAL HOTEL- showtime 6:30 ish as we have now moved into Daylight Savings Time

We hope to see you all out and about this weekend. Be well, be safe, and be good!

Peace,

Mikee^ Dee

Short Change Band - Beginning of April 2012

Greetings Everyone. The week before Easter is always a busy one, so I will not take up a lot of your time this week.

Here’s the shows from last week: Davy's Last Chance Saloon started slow then progressed to a powerful ending. It never fails, I see this in a lot of venues we play these days. The crowd treat you like a glorified Jukebox for the better part of four hours of a show, then as soon as you announce "We had a great time tonight and we have time for a couple more, the place lights up like a St Patty's Day parade or something. (It’s weird) But anyway it was a good show, and special thanks to Joey for stopping by and sitting in. He smoked that Les Paul for a couple tunes.

Saturday Evening we were back up to Babcock's in downtown Wells Bridge. Again, it was a good show with good people in a giant size environment. Thanks to Chucky (our sound man) for making a three piece band sound huge. And once again thanks to the fans who make what we do so rewarding.

This week we are off for the Easter Break. Please check out the website for our next upcoming show schedule. And Finally, THE JAMBOREE is getting closer. It's a few weeks away now and if you haven't put this date on your calendar, Please DO IT NOW - April 28th Beginning at NOON. It’s sure to be a great event. For the mere entrance fee of $12, you get admission to the Jamboree including a dinner, music from four great bands. This will also get you into the Poker Run if you wish to enter prior to the start of the Jamboree. The Poker Run starts at Davy's in Chenango Forks at 10am. Here's the cool part - You can enter any vehicle of your choice in the "Run what you brung" Best Poker hand pays a $100. So how can you beat this day for events and you help our local Food Pantry to boot?

More news to follow, If you have any questions, email the Short Change Website and we'll be sure to get back to you. Or call the Central Hotel at 607-693-2282. Be well everyone and have a happy and safe Easter Holiday, and if you see my son Johnny this weekend, wish him a Happy Birthday too!

Peace,

Mikee^^Dee
