Greetings to you all,

What a fast weekend it was and as I look back on it.  I can actually say to you all that four great events can be taken away from it.

First, what a great show we got to witness Friday night at Tioga downs.  The Outlaws were fantastic.

Second, we watched the wounded warriors softball game Saturday evening as they played against the Binghamton Police agencies.  The wounded warriors won 23-14!  What a dedicated group of service men doing what they still love to do, the only difference was this time as a personal challenge.
After the escort to Cooperstown on Sunday to play at the baseball Hall of Fame, they actually returned back to Binghamton to attend our Memorial Day parade in Downtown Binghamton.  What a great group of guys. We owe much to our veterans (we really do!)

Third, we played an outside show on Sunday and a remarkably young lad came up to the band after we played a song and stated "wasn't that song from the Going Aluminum CD" ?
Let tell you this, I'm glad someone listens to our albums and this is living proof.  (Sweet!)

Finally, Monday was the check hand-off day in Afton as the team gathered once again to give our $2300 earned from our 4th annual Jamboree proceeds to the Afton Food Pantry.

What made this so special was the fact that we were informed the Afton Food Pantry will receive matching funds for this event.  So, $4600 is a beautiful thing.  The Afton Food Panty supplied a remarkable 20,050 meals for 2011.  We’re glad we could help to continue this much needed service.

We're off this weekend (no shows) and I will be headed out on two wheels this weekend in search  of America.  So have a great week and we hope to see you all soon down the road.

Peace,

Mikee Dee ^^

Short Change Band - Memorial Weekend, 2012

Greetings everyone.  There’s not much going on in the world of Short Changeville to report on from last week so I will keep this week’s blog short and sweet.

We have a holiday weekend coming up as we kick off the summer season and this week’s schedule goes like this:

Thursday Night - We will return for the First “Bike Night Party” of the year at the Infamous Hitchin' Post on Rt. 7 - Belden Hill.  C'mon down for some Clams and Cans and check out the band, we’ll be outside on the deck.  Let’s hope for sunshine!  The show starts at 6:30pm.

Friday Night is “band night out” as we all head over to Tioga Downs to check out the Outlaws and Foghat concert under the lights.  We can't wait for that.

Also, the rest of the weekend we are playing private shows and parties throughout the area and one thing you may want to note is: **The Show at the Central Hotel for this Sunday has been cancelled**
So don't go down there Sunday wondering where the band is for their annual party (we will not be there)
We return to the Central Hotel on June 30th to celebrate a pre-4th of July weekend event instead.

Have a safe and great holiday weekend and remember to help show some support for our troops and active members in the military this weekend by hanging your flag, taking in a parade or two, or maybe attend the "Fallen Warriors" baseball game this Saturday at NYSEG stadium.  This event is sure to be an exciting one too.  (We hope to see you there)

Peace out,

Mikee^Dee

Short Change Band - After Mother's Day, May 2012

Greetings all, I hope last week was good for each and every one of you.  I’d like to wish a special thanks to all the Mother's out there and you know who you are.  Sunday was a beautiful day for a celebration and I hope you all made the best of it.

There is one last note from the Jamboree Committee. The final numbers are in and after it was all said and done we were able to raise just over $2,300.00 for the Afton Food Bank.  Every year we earn a little bit more money.  To date we have raised over $7,000.00 in the past four years.  This event started out to just to help feed people - what a novel concept.  Thanks again to all of you for your support.

We hope to have an official hand-off sometime in the very near future.  We will keep you informed as it happens.
Last week's show at Davy's was good.  We had a funny crowd though, where the crowd comes in, has a drink or two, and leave.  Then,  an hour later the place fills up and the same thing happens all over again.  This goes on until the last set.  (Strange but true)

Thanks to all of our friends that did stop by to say hello.   We truly appreciate the support.

This Friday we have a single show weekend planned at The Hitchin' Post, On Rt 7 (Belden Hill)
The show begins 8:00pm.  There’s never a cover for the Short Change Band, so stop down for a bite to eat, say Hello to D.J. and check out the band.  What a plan.  (TGIF Baby)

Be well and don't forget to pencil us in on the refrigerator calendar for Friday night while it's fresh in your mind.
As we close here, God Bless the "Duck" Dunn who gave us "Green Onions" with Booker T and the M.G.s back in the sixties.  He passed away over the weekend at the age of 70.

And Special thanks to the Pawn Shop band for letting me sit in and play a bit of percussion with the crew.  What a blast!  (Rock on)

Short Change Band - Middle of May, 2012

Greetings to you all as we move one week closer toward summer.  This Sunday is Mothers Day.  So, don't forget to do all of those duties you need to tend too and help make mom feel appreciated on their special day.

On to reviews:  The Community Lounge Show in Sidney, NY went well after some first set P.A. issues.  We were back on our mark during the second set.  We must have been doing a good job as a fellow patron who was digging on the tunes, bought the band for an additional half hour.  I love the music business.  Just when you think you got it all figured out, it throws you another curve.  (But it's all good)

On to this weekend:
Friday Night at 9pm, we will be in Downtown Chenango Forks at Davy's Last Chance Saloon.  (Our other second home)  Drop by and say hello, we would love to see you all!
Saturday we will be playing a private party up north with none other than the Infamous Herb Winters sitting in on Bass as DD will be away on assignment.

And once again have a great week and enjoy the weekend.  Ride hard, be safe.

See you all soon,

Mikee Dee^

Short Change Band - Beginning of May, 2012

Greetings people, the long awaited Jamboree has come and gone another year. After four months of securing music, vendors, supporters, and staff - it's over.  What an incredible day of events and entertainment!  Through it all we were able to exceed last years donations by over $100 from 2011.  And again any donation to the Food Bank is a good donation, but with a cash donation of over $2000.00, that makes a difference for the Afton Food Pantry
.
And, before I'll say it again - we could not have done it without all the people connected to it helping and doing their part.  It's so nice to be able to raise money through music - a concept the Short Change Band has been taking part in for over 25 years now in one form or another. We truly enjoy what we do. We'd also like to give  a very special thank you to our co-sponsors this year the Booze Fighters Motorcycle Club 61.  What a great group of folks.  It was just a fantastic effort by all.  We'd like to thank Bobby and Chopper and the staff at the Central Hotel once again and for hosting the event

In closing, you know who you are and what you did - thanks!  This donation will help feed many people this year in our community.

Moving on-----
We have one show this week- FRIDAY NIGHT - 9PM AT THE COMMMUNITY LOUNGE- LOCATED AT 80  MAIN STREET IN DOWNTOWN SIDNEY, NY.

It's a new venue for the boys, so why don't you all come out and check out our brand of Southern/Classic rock and Outlaw Country on for size..

We'll see you there.  Peace,

Mikee^Dee
