Short Change Band - End of Summer, 2012

Greetings everyone.  We’re counting down the days until the end of summer when everyone heads back to school. It's actually the saddest time of the whole year next to when it starts snowing (and that can happen every other day in our typical winter, so be careful what you wish for)  This has been the year of variables where anything can happen, just wait and see.  (remember where you heard it first)

What a crazy week it was for music.  It was nice to have Friday night off as we spent it with friends that are leaving the area soon.  It’s sad, but time moves on and I wish them all the luck in the world onto the next phase of their life.  Living in the south for the winter wouldn't be a hard thing to have to deal with (trust me) I'd love for the same opportunity myself.

On to Saturday, it was show number one: The Annual Afton Sportsmen's Club Ticket party.  Once again the boys worked their butts off to provide a great atmosphere complete with great food, drinks, and music. (A better party does not exist)  If you ever get a chance to check out this event please do it - it's the best!

And the band, well we started about 1:00 pm that afternoon and played the entire day until we finally packed up and the last song was played about 10:00 pm that night.  We used to get nervous when we were a band of six members back in the day and we had to play an all day show.  Now we're only three members with just two vocalists and we can bang out a ten hour show and not repeat a single song. (Wow, how we have grown as a band)  Thanks to Mark R. for coming up and jamming with the boys that night.  "Simple Man" would have made Ronnie proud.  It was that good!

So we rush home and get a little sleep and then on to show #2, Mark and Sandy's wedding.  That was another terrific party put on by a couple of terrific people themselves.  A big congratulation goes out from “the band' and best of wishes to both of you.  So along with this great party also came some overtime – six hours later we were packing up the trucks and heading home.

Now I don't think there are too many three piece bands in our area that can bang out 16-hours of music in two days -much less not repeat but maybe a dozen songs the entire weekend from one show to another.  We like what we do and I think we do it well.  Thank you my brothers for “getting’ it done” this weekend.

Now for next weekend we have one show - The annual Labor Day Party Show at the Central Hotel & Tavern on Sunday.  If the weather cooperates, we should be outdoors under the pavilion.  But not knowing what Isaac is going to do by then it could be anybody’s guess.  The Show Time is 4:00 pm.  Bring your lawn chairs just in case we do indeed play outdoors as planned.

So that wraps up another week.  Enjoy the last week of summer and ring it out in style.  Come see us this Sunday, we'd love to see you all as we are about to take the next couple weeks off to prepare for midterms.

Be safe and be well.  Peace and love,

Mikee Dee^^

Short Change Band - August, 2012

Greetings to you all! Once again we continue on with the Summer Tour series.

Last week’s shows were fun and well attended. Thanks D.J. for having us once again at the Infamous Can's and Clam's Bike Night at the Hitchin’ Post. It looks like the final summer Thursday in September may be an indoors show, but we’ll see how the evening’s weather goes by then.

We even elected to play indoors at the Central Hotel last Saturday as well. It was the best crowd we've seen up there since early spring too!

The days have already begun to shed less light and by 8pm it's getting dark. It’s a shame, I love the nights where the sun stays with us till after 9pm.

Thanks to all of our friends who came out this last week and some we haven't seen in quite some time, as well as the regulars - you guys rock!

Oh and I almost forgot to mention last Sunday’s “Skull Crushers” golf outing. We had Gentleman Jack and he smoothed over the rough spots that day for us (and there were plenty of them) My gosh, we sucked! (What a hack fest) Did I tell you how much I hate that sport! (LOL)

On to this week’s shows: `

Saturday- Afton Sportsman's Club Annual Ticket Party – There may still be a ticket or two left at the gate. The show begins at 1pm and will run well into the early evening. (You don't want to miss this party - trust me)

Sunday- We have a private party and outdoor Pig Roast – aka: Jamie/Sandy Production

So that wraps up this week. If you have any summer projects to complete, time is running out and you better put it in high gear and get ‘r done.

Peace, and love,

Mikee^Dee

Short Change Band - Late Summer - August, 2012

Greetings Everyone. We had another fantastic weekend of making music and it looks like we are ready for another great weekend as well.

Last Friday night we sat down for an acoustic night with Pawn Shop in celebration of Jeff's 40th Birthday. What a great time and some nice jams came out of that combination.

Saturday we played two shows! We fired up the tour bus at noon and finished the second show around 10pm that night. (Yeah that's what I'm talking about!) Back in the day we would book a show for an eight hour day and be nervous, but not anymore. (it's how we roll now)

Remember you can't get this kind of dedication to music with everyone you play with, but the Short Change Band is not like any other band either. You can call it a business, a love, a family, but it's what we do week after week and frankly, I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else either. The Short Change Family...Disciples...

So, with that being said, Geno, we hope you enjoyed your party last Saturday because we sure did, and Butch and Cindy Ahner, you put on another fantastic Annual Pig Roast complete with those neat fireworks! (It doesn't get much better)

This week we have two shows and they’re both public shows as we head back out on the road once more: Thursday night it’s “Cans and Clams” Bike Night at the Hitchin' Post on Rt. 7 – the show begins 6:30pm out on the deck. Saturday we're back to the egg, where it all began so many years ago at The Infamous “Central Hotel” – The show starts around 6pm. Cruise on down and take a step back in time to party in the land that time forgot.

Hope to see you all soon!

Peace and love,

Mikee^Dee

Short Change Band - Mid August, 2012

Well hello again everyone.  I just can't believe we are headed into mid August already.  The year has screamed by and this weekend will  mark our 40th and 41st shows of the year.

We’re not as busy as we once were but we’re still staying absorbed none the less.  It's what we do and these days we try and "smell the roses" a bit more than we did in years past.

With a summer of great weather like this one, how could you not want to sample it a bit more when you can?

Anyway, last week’s show at the Hallstead American Legion went over quite well.  The show was supposed to be a "private occasion" but it turned out to be a public show at the last minute.  And despite no advertisement we had a decent crowd for the entire show!

This week we have two shows, both private and both on Saturday.  All within' minutes of one another. So we will be busy once again this weekend.

Enjoy the days as they scream past you, before you know it, school will be back in session.
“Summertime Blues”

Peace and Love as always,

Mikee' Dee
