Greetings everyone. We’re counting down the days until the end of summer when everyone heads back to school. It's actually the saddest time of the whole year next to when it starts snowing (and that can happen every other day in our typical winter, so be careful what you wish for) This has been the year of variables where anything can happen, just wait and see. (remember where you heard it first)
What a crazy week it was for music. It was nice to have Friday night off as we spent it with friends that are leaving the area soon. It’s sad, but time moves on and I wish them all the luck in the world onto the next phase of their life. Living in the south for the winter wouldn't be a hard thing to have to deal with (trust me) I'd love for the same opportunity myself.
On to Saturday, it was show number one: The Annual Afton Sportsmen's Club Ticket party. Once again the boys worked their butts off to provide a great atmosphere complete with great food, drinks, and music. (A better party does not exist) If you ever get a chance to check out this event please do it - it's the best!
And the band, well we started about 1:00 pm that afternoon and played the entire day until we finally packed up and the last song was played about 10:00 pm that night. We used to get nervous when we were a band of six members back in the day and we had to play an all day show. Now we're only three members with just two vocalists and we can bang out a ten hour show and not repeat a single song. (Wow, how we have grown as a band) Thanks to Mark R. for coming up and jamming with the boys that night. "Simple Man" would have made Ronnie proud. It was that good!
So we rush home and get a little sleep and then on to show #2, Mark and Sandy's wedding. That was another terrific party put on by a couple of terrific people themselves. A big congratulation goes out from “the band' and best of wishes to both of you. So along with this great party also came some overtime – six hours later we were packing up the trucks and heading home. Now I don't think there are too many three piece bands in our area that can bang out 16-hours of music in two days -much less not repeat but maybe a dozen songs the entire weekend from one show to another. We like what we do and I think we do it well. Thank you my brothers for “getting’ it done” this weekend.
Now for next weekend we have one show - The annual Labor Day Party Show at the Central Hotel & Tavern on Sunday. If the weather cooperates, we should be outdoors under the pavilion. But not knowing what Isaac is going to do by then it could be anybody’s guess. The Show Time is 4:00 pm. Bring your lawn chairs just in case we do indeed play outdoors as planned.
So that wraps up another week. Enjoy the last week of summer and ring it out in style. Come see us this Sunday, we'd love to see you all as we are about to take the next couple weeks off to prepare for midterms.
Be safe and be well. Peace and love,
Mikee Dee^^
