Short Change Band - End of February, 2012

Greetings everyone! The winter months are moving along quickly for us. By the time most of you read this, we will be into the month of March. (The windy month)

Speaking of March, check out the picture of the short change band of the past (from the early 90's) Wow! It’s amazing how fast twenty years just skip by. (A blast form the past for you nostalgia fans) Check out the club name over the top of the band.

Last weekend we had off and once again the band pursued many different venues when we aren't making music together. I like to go out and try to listen to some other bands, and this weekend was no different.

The weather on Saturday was a bit rough but we managed to take in two venues.

The first was a benefit for a person in need of a heart transplant. The crowd was impressive as well as the band from Susquehanna PA that was playing that evening. I haven't heard a band play the Moody Blues in many years. From Windsor we then headed back up Route 79 to Chenango Forks to our favorite Biker Bar - Davy's Last Chance Saloon for the “Johnny Corky Birthday Bash”. It was fun to see all of our old riding companions out for an evening of talk, dance and partying. The music was supplied by a band by the name of the "Channel Monsters" - and get this - their drummer was none other than the triple cites own Randy McStine. He’s all grown up now! I didn't know he could play drums too! What an amazing evening. They even asked me up for one as well. What a Great party!

This week:
We are back at THE CENTRAL HOTEL AND TAVERN. SHOWTIME SATURDAY, MARCH 3rd at 6:30 PM

We even expect a special guest picker that night as well, so make sure to stop by!
Also, we may even have copies of the new CD for sale for all you folks chomping at the bit. (Call it a sort of a Pre-release fans party)

So we hope to see you all out this weekend as the month of March for the band will be one of the busiest months in a while.

Peace and Love,

Mikee Dee^^

Short Change Band - Mid-February, 2012

Greetings all, I hope your weekend went well. We are moving right along on the old calendar for this year. (Wow, it’s almost mid February – in eight weeks we will be raking leaves and starting up lawn mowers - gosh I like the sound of that. And maybe get the scoots out as well! (now you're talkin')

So anyway, the Central Hotel show rocked out. We had a good crowd even in between the mini snow storms, people keep coming in and they stayed. (Nice)
The band played well and we covered some material we hadn't played in ages, and they came off well.

The kitchen was open too. Bobby was making a killing on five chicken thighs with steak fries for $7 bucks. My goodness what a meal. People were chowing down on them alright. (Good call)
So this week we move on to the HITCHIN' POST - AT BELDEN HILL ON RT.7. THE SHOW BEGINS AT 8PM. Come on out and party with the band. We would love to see you all again.
Here’s a special note for this year’s Jamboree - put April 28th on your calendar - for our annual Run for Chow. The music lineup is almost complete, we're looking at four bands and four hours of music along with a jam at the end. There will also be a full chicken dinner - Hotel Style, and the cost is a mere $10.

We will once again be doing some major raffles along with 50/50's, tee shirts and door prizes.
THE SHOW STARTS AT NOON ON SATURDAY 4/28/12. Write the date down now before you forget.

We have even asked our original M.C. John Davies to come back and help us out once again.
Come down and help us raise some money for a much needed cause - feeding our fellow neighbors. (how novel a concept is that?)

That's my story and that's all I have. We’ll see you this Friday.

Peace and Love,

Mikee^^Dee

Short Change Band - End of January, 2012

Greetings folks, I hope your weekend was as interesting as ours. We premiered a brand new showcase for the Short Change Band - at "Babcocks" in down town Wells Bridge NY.
The trip there was a bit brutal as we got hung up in one of those mini micro bursts of snow. Once we arrived we were met by our sound engineer Chuck, and from then on it was all good.

Babcock's is a huge place with probably the largest dance floor in all the Southern Tier. For a three piece band, we had quite the challenge to fill that void but with the help of Chucky and his fine sound qualities, not to mention an excellent crowd, we pulled off a great show that evening. (Nice Job Boys)

We'd also like to send out special thanks to all of our friends that stopped in and supported us (and Happy Birthdays) You guys rocked! We're glad we could make the night a special one to remember.

This week we're going to take another breather but we're back hot and heavy the following week, so check the website for the details.

UPCOMING:
Another consideration: the upcoming event is our 4th Annual Run for Chow {Share the Music and Feed the People} Jamboree. Here are some of the details as of right now:

DATE; Saturday April 28th, 2012
LOCATION; Central Hotel & Tavern/ Oak Hill Road, Nineveh Junction
TIME: Show begins 12 noon- first band up- THE BLUE J's (yeah...they're back!)
COST: $10 donation includes live music - 4 bands - and Chicken Dinner.
And once again we are looking forward to Jam matchup at 5pm.
(More details as we get them, but mark your calendars and help us help feed the less fortunate)

That's all I have this week. Have a great week and enjoy our pre-spring weather as we head over the hump and into February.

Peace out,

Mikee^Dee
