Greetings America, well here we are now, in December, 2013.  As I look back at the calender, I have to say to myself "where the hell did 2013 go?"  Incredible, but what a year it was.  With almost 70 shows under our belts this year we can't say that we were not busy.

No not the years of 80 or 90 shows but hell, all of that does is make life go by even faster.  So, with that being said - 2014 will be a year of transition for the Short Change Band.  Our 2014 theme is "play a little less make a little more and stop an enjoy the time we spend together" as quality time is priceless time.  It's been a long time coming.  Anyway 2014 will be that year.

Back up to 2013 for just a moment it was also the year of Change for the Short Change Band.  We started January right off with adding and additional member to the band - 'Travis on keys".  That transition took us five years to complete as we swore 3-piece is where we needed to be forever and ever.

2013 was the year we also expanded our song selection range as well as adding a keyboard player that gave us that opportunity to do so. Thanks Travis.

2013 was also the year of giving back as we played seven local benefits for people and families in need, two of them for our local Food Bank alone. So as we look around the community at the all the clubs and the bands that play in these clubs every week - ask yourself this question "how many of these bands gave back to the communities that supported them?"  I think you will find very few did and the ones that do - get our support whenever they have a need as well.  We are there for them.  you can call it a band network.

So in closing, thanks to all of you that support the band every week as we go out to play, month after month - year after year- we love you all!

We are also taking some time off through the winter months next year with a very limited schedule on tap. We are hoping to really tap into Travis' piano skills and bring on some totally new material in 2014.  Oh and did I mention we now have enough material for another new album.  So many concepts with so little time to complete.

So in closing,  2014 could be our most exciting band year to date. Keep abreast of us so we can keep you all informed.

And finally this week- we have 2 shows:

Birtchy's Joint on Friday evening 8pm - 12:00pm on Conklin Road and
Annies Bar & Grill in Windsor on Saturday evening- 9pm - 1am

Come out and help celebrate the holiday season with us one more time.  If we don't cross paths here before years end, remember this - "MERRY CHRISTMAS" to you all and have a safe holiday season.

Peace and Love,

The Short Change Band:

Well here we are folks, it’s week # 43 in 2013, and where did 2013 go?  (wow) There are only nine more weeks till 2014 and that’s crazy!

We've been playing gigs indoors and playing private parties.  This week we go public once more as we have two shows to share with you all.  We hope to see you at one or maybe both.

Friday evening  we’er at Annie’s Bar & Grill on Old Rt. 17 in Damascus.  It’s the annual Halloween celebration.  The show starts at 9:00pm. (It’s guaranteed to be one scary show too!)

Sunday is our Fall “Jambooree” to help Benefit the Afton Food Bank.  Come out one more time and help support the less fortunate in your area merely by coming down and enjoying the afternoon of planned events.  The cost is $10 at the door and it gets you live music (acoustic unplugged) with two bands and open mic and guitar pickin' with food and drinks included.  There will be plenty to do for the kids as well.
The show is 12pm to 3pm and we hope to see you there.

Peace,

Mikee^ Dee^^

Welcome to crazy times as the crazy days of fall are upon us.  I hope all is well in all of your worlds this week.  We had a couple of tough shows last week and with the weather as nice as it still is, it remains a mystery why both Kevin and myself had that awful nasal/throat sickness going on.  It totally shuts the vocals down and sucks!  So, hopefully with only one show this week, we can repair ourselves.

While we are on the subject, we have a show at the "Central Hotel and Tavern” this Saturday evening at 7:00 pm.  Stop by and say hi as this is our last public shows until the end of the month.

Also included this month is our 6th (count them) 6th benefit for 2013 and the Short Change Band.  This one is called “JAM-BOO-REE 2”.  Once again it’s located at the Coventry Fire Hall as a Halloween theme and will include live music, prizes, food and drinks all for $10.  You can't beat it and you can bring the kids.  We have games and contests for them as well, all to support of the Afton Food Pantry.  Please come help us try and fill the money chest it up before winter season hits with a nice donation.

Also this show is somewhat of a different venue as it is an acoustic show with pickers welcome.  Music provided by the Short Change Band as well as Kenyon Hill.  So, put Sunday, October 27th on your calendar.  We’d love to see all our friends again.  (There will be an open mic and pickers are welcome, so bring your flat tops, mandolins, or other acoustic instruments and we will have blast.  Dress in costumes as well and maybe win a prize.  Stay tuned for more details as they break.

Enjoy the fantastic weather and we will see you all soon.

Peace and love,

Mikee^Dee

Well hello boys and girls.  We had some crazy times over the past few weeks.  We are just returning from a two week "end of summer" band retreat.  The summer was packed with shows and we needed a bit of "downtime "(and we took it)

Not many bands that go on vacation together, but the Short Change Band does every year.  Once again we took on the infamous "Atlantic City" for (4) days and (3) nights.  The weather was perfect and the trip was good.  The booze flowed and the Roulette Wheel treated us well.

I can’t remember the last time we turned in just as the sun started to rise the next day.  We didn't come home millionaires as we had hoped for but the memories we made were priceless.  We can't wait for next year.
If you were wondering about the show we were supposed to play while we were down there, it got cancelled due to last year’s hurricane Sandy.  It’s a shame but we still jammed out on the boardwalk for an afternoon.  (check out the pictures on the website)

So in closing, we made some new band friends, DD met Miss Michigan and Ryan was introduced to the “Hurricane” (Priceless)  It was quite the trip, quite the vacation, quite the band break.

So Now, welcome back!

This Weekend it’s the welcome home party show -  Saturday night at the Hitchin' Post at 8:00pm for what could the final show under the "Days of Snow"  (Come down this weekend and say your goodbyes)
On Sunday, it’s the benefit for Teresa Schermerhorn at the Hitchin’ Post beginning at 1:00pm.   We are doing a special show to help out a friend that was always there for us when we needed her help.  Now she can use your help.  Music, Food, and Door Prizes from 1-5pm on Sunday at The Hitchin' Post for a $10 donation.  There will be a Pork BBQ by Myers, Music by The Short Change Band, Jason Wicks, and 911 and a lot of raffles.  Come down and show support for our favorite local bartender.

See you there!  Peace out,

Mikee^ Dee

Greetings everyone, it seems like just yesterday we were taking the lawn furniture out of storage and shutting down the wood burners.  Well I think we can almost count on a reverse process here in the next couple weeks.  The Farmer’s Almanac predictions were out yesterday and they were not impressive either.  I guess “it is what it is” and we will just have to deal with wherever happens this winter. (yuck)
Last week we played two fantastic outside shows as Mother Nature blessed us once more with some fantastic weather.  Last Friday at the River Club was a picture perfect night outdoors on the tiki deck. What a great way to finish out the season of summer shows at the River Club.  Thank you!  We’ll see you next summer.

Saturday at the annual ticket party at the Afton Sportsman’s Club was another example of putting together an outstanding event and great party.  I give these folks a ton of credit as they continue to make improvements to the grounds and the facilities.  It’s a little piece of heaven nestled a quarter mile deep in the woods.  What a great place for your next event - call them and they'd love to have ya.

This week as we roll out the END OF SUMMER TOUR with two shows and a band event for this weekend. Thursday Evening at 6pm it’s the last of the Cans & Clams Bike Night for the band at the Hitchin' Post.   We’re hoping for good weather and we hope to see you!

Saturday is the 2nd annual Short Change Band Invitational Golf Championship.  This all day event will surely be an exciting one as we continue our sponsorship goals with Jack Daniels Beverage and spirits.

Sunday is our last outside show for 2013 - Live at the Central Hotel and Tavern in Nineveh.  This annual event has been going on for years, so you all know the drill - Stop up and say hi and maybe shake a little dance too.  The Showtime is 3pm.

So that rounds out the summer tour schedule.  Have a great week and be very careful driving over the Holiday Weekend.

Peace and love,

Mikee Dee^

Greetings Everyone.  Another week has passed on the calendar (traveling at the speed of sound)  So now as we move well into the second half of the year, we are fortunate enough to  be very busy.  The band will pay over forty shows through the end of 2013 and that will keep us very busy for sure.

We thought we would be playing in Atlantic City next month but that didn’t happen (No big deal) we will still go and play some tables and machines and play some golf at a couple of four-star golf courses instead.  (so it's all good!)

This week  we have two shows again - One public and one semi-public:
This Friday Evening  - Live on the Tiki Deck at the River Club - 7pm start time, so come early have some food too outside on the deck.

Saturday - is the Almost Annual Sportsmen's Club Ticket Fund Raiser that starts at noon – till?  If you're lucky enough to score a ticket, you will have a great time here for sure.  The folks at the club always go the extra mile for this one.

See at all at one or maybe both!

Peace and love,

Mikee Dee^^

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Greeting everyone, and wow - August is here this week!  Enjoy today!

We had another smokin' weekend.  Last Friday night we got to party with our sister band “The Blue J's”.  We even got to play part of a set with them.  We love you “Blue J's”.  (The song "Shame, Shame Shame" – I’m still hearing it in my head!)

Then Saturday we headed back up to North Afton to the Afton Sportsman's Club for a family reunion. We had a great day and a great crowd and once again a fantastic environment.  If you haven’t visited the Afton Sportsman's Club - you need to check it out.  The club is located a half mile from the main road and way back in the woods in a beautiful country setting.  It’s the kind of place that takes you way back in time.  (you could almost expect Humphrey Bogart to come walking out of the club house.  It’s so retro – I love it)  Nice job again boys and girls.

This week also marks a milestone in the Short Change Playbook as we begin - The “Fun Week from Hell Tour” where we play four shows in four days.  It’s been a while but we're gonna see just what we have in the tank this week.

THURSDAY NIGHT CANS AND CLAMS - BIKE NIGHT at THE HITCHIN' POST- SHOWTIME 6pm

FRIDAY EVENING at the HALLSTEAD AMERICAN LEGION - 8:30- 12:30AM

SATURDAY- the CENTRAL HOTEL and TAVERN - 7PM - 11PM

SUNDAY at the 7TH ANNUAL BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL – at the COVENTRY FIRE HALL – Noon to 4PM

So there you have it folks, four shows in three different counties and even one in a different state.  That's how we roll, so come out an help us "through the night".

Have a great week.

Peace and love,

Mikee^Dee

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Greetings everyone, and welcome to just another day in the jungle of life. Last weekend was the third in a series of fantastic outside shows for us this month.  The weather has cooperated at every show, call it luck or call it summer- it's working for us this year so far!

Friday evening was an awesome evening for an outside show and the Tiki Bar at the River Club in Afton was the place to be.  We had a nice crowd that evening and we even got to party with many of our friends over some cocktails. It was great to see you all and thanks once again for the band support.

Saturday came fast at the Bowbell Sportsman's club and the party up at the camp in Coventry/Greene went off without a hitch.  The weather was nice once again as only a couple of sprinkles showed up for the entire day.  The f
ood was fantastic and there was plenty of it.  Anyone that left there without there fill of food and beers just didn't participate.

Thanks to Donnie, Bobby, Phil and the whole Bowbell staff for putting on another fantastic party. (Not to mention the band too!)

Sunday morning came even faster as the members of the Short Change Band played their first Captain and Mate golf game of the year.  Some points were a bit rocky and some trees got dented but through it all we had a blast.  We love that Jack Daniels lemonade on a Sunday morning.

This week we continue the outdoor series once again as we play a private show up in Afton.  In closing, have a great week.  It was nice to get some much needed rain this week after the last week's heat.  The plant life needed a break.

Enjoy the summer as it is rapidly moving along.  It's late July already (wow)  Be Safe, see you all soon for Bike Night next Thursday 8/1 at the Hitchin' Post - Put it on your calendar.

Peace and love,

-Mikee^Dee

We had another fantastic weekend with the "Infamous Stinky Boys" of Susquehanna, PA.

Congratulations Brandy and David for a fine wedding reception.  It's going to be hard to beat that party for sure.  We all enjoyed a fantastic musical "special version" of "Takin' Care of Business".  It's good to see the boys sing once again, not to mention a priceless rendition of "Harper Valley PTA" by Jodie - Wow!

Thanks for making us (The Short Change Band) a part of your memories - we loved it.

So, this week we fire up the bus for two big shows

Friday, July 19th - live at the River Club in Afton - Showtime 7pm  on the Deck "Tiki Party"
Saturday we're at the Bellbow Annual Picnic in Greene/Coventry, NY - SOLD OUT*

I know it was a short entry this week, but it's too hot to trot.  Stay cool and stay safe as we have entered the "Hazy Lazy Days of Summer".

Enjoy - Peace,

-Mikee Dee^

Sunday, July 14, 2013

Greetings everyone and welcome back from the long holiday week.  (Wow, the calendar is now knee deep into July already - week 30)  We just keep peeling off those months as fast as they pass.

And what's new you may ask? Well, last weekend was a busy one as we just enjoyed Independence Day and some gigs all in the same week. We tried a different venue that we really hadn't done in quite some time as a three piece band last Friday evening.  It was an acoustic show with an open mic night added as well.  The folks at the Central Hotel wanted to try something different and I think for the most part it was quite a success. Now many of the folks may tell you how much they like this over the screaming guitars and hard pack drums but through our experience they still miss the Boom- Booms after a couple "quiet" sessions.  But, it was fun just the same.

Check out our one open mic participant T.J.  Ricarde {Nashville Recording Artist}

Then came Saturday- and The Second Annual Crumfest/ with live music.  Oh let me say this first {Travis was out of town this weekend so we had Cliff Clune {former SCB Guitar/lead man- step in and help fill the void.  If you're  wondering about our Travis on Keyboards, he'll be back next week}

We all headed up to Cue-Ball hill for one terrific smokin' outside show with special guest band "Pawn Shop" as well up on the big stage. And for the better part of six hours, we all rocked the hills.  There were some great performances that came off of that venue stage that evening for sure.

And for us, it was one of the best fests/outside shows we have played in quite some time. Thanks to Foster and the whole gang up in CrumVille who helped make us feel right to home. Check out our band website for some of the updated photos from this event as there were a ton of pictures taken.  (Some of them pretty funny too!)  And the weather was absolutely perfect.  Now for us that is four dry outdoor shows this year and that's a  new dry record for us!

And finally, this week we have one show.  It's a private party/wedding down in Susquehanna PA.  But, moving ahead to next week, the following Friday July 19th we are outside live on the Tiki Deck of the River Club in Afton.  So we're busy and that's always good.

Catch us out and about and have a safe summer.

Peace and love,

-Mikee^Dee

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

Well greetings everyone.  We have almost reached the half way point of 2013 and my goodness time flies.  We had a big week last and another big week coming this weekend as well with graduations and parties.

So let's hit last week's events:  Friday night we were at the Gretchen Wilson at Tioga Downs.  we had a great time and we also had great weather which made for a fun evening under the stars track side.  Gretchen put on a great show for about seventy minutes, but I think most of the older people in the crowd thought they were going to see a shy little Gretchen Wilson like her music portrays, but instead you would think Joan Jett was there with her "I love Rock and Roll" tour.  Oh well, everybody has to find the sound that works for them and it seems old school country is not hers.

Saturday night we were at the Central Hotel.  It was a funny night there as the crowd really didn't show up until later in the evening.  It still turned out to be a fun evening for all.

Sunday we actually had a three hour practice and put together another six or so songs that we will add to the set list.  Sometimes it's nice when you can leave everything set up and just play the next day.  Thanks Bobby for putting up with us two days in a row.

We have one show this week due to graduation weekend and DeBetto Fest:  This Thursday night it's  Bike Night at the Hitchin' Post we will be playing live out on the deck.  The special is Can's an Clams.  Showtime is 6:00pm.  Stop by and see all the bikes and say "hi" to the band.

Have a great week and enjoy our summer weather break.  It's gonna be nice here through the weekend, so get out and ride!

Salute - Peace and love,

-Mikee^ Dee^

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

Hello everybody, it's almost that time again - DeBetto Fest #8 is next week. (Wow,  like where does the time go?)  In true Fest Fashion it's been raining all week and hopefully by next weekend it will be as nice as this weekend is supposed to be. I'll keep my fingers crossed just in case.  But we've been there before. (ugh)

On to the Reviews:  Last week's show at Birtchy's Joint' was one hot show performance. We came out of the box hot and stayed that way the entire evening. We had a lot of compliments and lot's of business cards changed hands that night.  That's when you know things were exceptionally good.

This week we have one show:  We're back for our monthly "Yee-Haw" party at the Central Hotel & Tavern on Oak Hill Road, Nineveh, NY.  The Showtime is 7pm.  Come back out and kick a little dust up.  We would love to see all again.

Also, this Friday we're off to see another Outlaw of Country Music - Gretchen Wilson.  Now I'd almost pay to see her, but free tickets are going to seal this deal.

So with that, we'll see you all soon my "Redneck Friends".

Peace and Love as always,

-Mikee^Dee

Greetings everyone.  It feels good to get back to the main land once more. We had some pretty decent weather this year up at Thunder in the Forge. We rode in honor this time for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl of the U.S. Army.  He was taken hostage back in 2009 in Afghanistan.  He's only 23.  (it's such a shame)

The overall event  this year was a bit scratchy as they lost their national sponsor the week before the event took place.  Americade Started a day earlier so the vendors also jumped ship for Lake
George.  It's not the notable memory it once was.  Hopefully somebody will take it over and make it "The Wounded Warriors " event the  type of event it should be.  That in my eyes eliminates all the competition. Our men and women serving this country at least deserve that much respect.  There's no better place than the quietness of Old Forge, NY.

The show last week at the Post for Bike Night was fun and the weather was perfect and with the help of Jeffery A made it a show to remember. Thanks Jeff for stopping by and playing some Mandolin, and to all of friends that showed up for the show.

This week we have one show: Birtchy's Joint on Conklin Ave. in Binghamton.  Please stop down for some of those great wings they serve up.  We're there Friday evening at 8:00pm.  And hey it's gonna rain Friday night so this is the place to be.  As the old saying goes "Rainy Days are indeed Tavern Days"

And hey - have a great week and we'll see all very soon.

Peace and love,

Mikee^Dee

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Greetings Everyone.  I hope your holiday weekend was indeed a safe one.  We had two shows last week (one outdoors and another indoors)  Both went over quite well and once again we got to party with some folks we hadn't seen in some time. Thank You all for your continued support of the band.
The weather wasn't one of the greatest holiday weekends but I guess it could have been worse.  We had snow flurries and 36 degrees Saturday night, that was my show stopper. This is the winter that just won't let go.

I'd like to send special thanks to our musical guests this weekend who came up and shared the stage with us.  It is a Short Change Band tradition as we continue to share the music we play with others.

This week we have One Show:  Thursday Night at 6:00pm on the deck at the Hitchin' Post on Rt. 7 Belden Hill for Bike Night - Stop down for a cold one and say "Hi"  We'd love to see you all again for a Party on the Deck!

Also this weekend a group of us are headed up north on two wheels to attend the Wounded Warriors Thunder in the Forge Event (Year #3)  Just to see these folks and to give them a word of thanks for all that they have sacrificed for their country.  It is priceless in my eyes.

Wish us well and we will see you all next week.  Check the Website for our upcoming shows and events.

Ride Safe and Keep the Shiney Side up,
Peace,
Mikee Dee^^

Greetings people, here's hoping life is good for you all in week 21 of 2013. This is my favorite time of year!  I just love when everything goes from gray to bloom.
It's also nice to fire up the BBQ or just take a ride on the scoot.  I love spring.  I love this photo taken back in better times.  We love these guys....Emoji

The Blog this week is a quick installment:  We played at On the Roxx last week.  It was a good show, we just need to better coordinate the times we play with the time the crowds show up.  We'll get it next time. What works one time doesn't work all the time.

We're off this weekend (both Friday and Saturday) Which is very rare for us, but I'm not complaining.  Maybe we'll finally get a chance to get out and play golf this weekend. Next week we will be busy for the holiday weekend, so check out our website if you need to know what we're doing sooner then the week we "Blog" it.

Have a great week and once again thanks to all connected with our 2013 Jamboree as we raised close to another $2000 for the Afton Food Pantry. It's with your continued support and devotion that we can make these donations all possible.  Thanks again.

Peace and love,

Mikee^Dee

Greetings everyone and welcome to week 16 of 2013.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people that were affected at the Boston Marathon this week. (Heinous people committing Heinous acts) But we will never stop being Americans! (true and strong)

This week’s Show is at Davy's Last Chance Saloon located on Rt.12 in downtown Chenango Forks. The Show starts at 9:00pm.  We’ll see you there.

Last Week we played two shows.  The first was on Saturday Evening back the Central Hotel - where it all began so many years ago.  We had a great crowd and a great show that even extended into overtime.  It was good to relive it all for the entire evening.

Thanks to the huge crowd that supported the cause for over four and a half hours of Outlaw Country and Rock. (Salute)

Sunday we played another outstanding event for the "Bodie Benefit” at the River Club in Afton.  What a fantastic fund raiser once again.  Hundreds of people came out to support the cause and thousands of dollars were raised to help defer medical costs for Bodie.

Along with Short Change providing the tunes, our friends from the band “Rise” also helped support the cause. We all got to jam together for a bit as well.  That’s the kind of things benefits are known for.  So thanks to all who came out to support the event and there were hundreds of you there, and thanks to Jack for letting us once again do something nice and giving back to the community.

This year so far has proven to be a year of need for many. This was our fourth benefit we performed this year, which brings me to my next topic.  On April 27th (next Saturday) the 5th annual "Share the Music and Feed The People" Jamboree  is scheduled at the Coventry Fire Hall.  The Showtime is 1:00pm with  bands/acts, food, prizes, 50/50's, raffles and event T-Shirts, Beer, a car show and motorcycle show.  The list is endless.  Please stop by and help us meet the needs of the Afton Food Pantry through music and community.  Be a part of history and check out our new location at the corners of Rt. 235 and Rt. 206 in Coventry.  (Rock on)

Peace and love,

Mikee^^Dee

Here is hoping everything in your world is happening for you  the way you want this week.

Last weekend’s show at Seeber’s Tavern was a packed house with some great music.  We’d like to send special thanks to Captain Walt Larnerd for making us sound like song birds on the console.  We would also like to thank all of our friends for coming out and supporting us once again.  It's never the same without you.

This week I would like to mention a very special show coming up Saturday Evening.  We're going back to where it all began (all those years ago) Live at the Central Hotel & Tavern Saturday evening at 7:00pm.  It is sure to be a memorable event and a piece of our little hometown history making.

In closing, Last weekend was the yearly Academy of Country Music Awards Show.  I'm sorry I missed them on TV, but the next morning CBS ran a news special about them and the new "Country Music" formats that are still being played and are taking over on country radio.

It’s amazing, as they went on to say that Country Music Radio is the only media that is still showing positive growth and gaining popularity once again.  It reminded me of 1993 all over again when the country music craze and line dancing took off, then three years later it was like a poison to say you were a country band.  So here we are twenty years later and here we go again.  Country music is now at the next level and going higher by the year.  Listen to some tunes from as little as five years ago, they don't even cut it in today's market.  So, as life goes on, so does the music and I tell myself every show we that we play "We were truly “country when country wasn't cool".  We just fattened it up bit by adding some Outlaws to the mix and some Southern Rock tunes.  That's who are and that's who we always were.

Peace and remember there’s only two weeks before the big Jamboree takes place.  Tickets are now on sale as well.

-Mikee^ Dee

Greetings everyone!  Here is hoping everyone had a safe and fantastic Easter.  We finally move forward this week into spring as March came “In like a lion and went out like Lamb”
Last Friday night was a great evening at the infamous Hitchin' Post atop Belden Hill.  It was good to see many familiar faces that stayed for most the show.  And as the show ended, the place emptied out.  That's always a good sign that the crowd was there just for us. (thank you!)
Saturday evening The Short Change band headed out to see some old familiar faces from the past in country music as the band Restless Heart performed at Tioga Downs.  It was a great show as well as a great "meet and greet" directly following the show.  We also got to spend some time with our friends from The Sundown Band (Rick and Lori)  What a fantastic evening.

On to this week, we have one show at Seeber’s Tavern located in downtown Smithville Flats. The show time is 9:00pm.  We hope to see you all once again.  We have a special guest - Captain Walt, our professional sound guy is coming out this weekend to help us out as well.  We might even record a live show!  So, come out and see us this Saturday.

Peace and Love,
Mikee Dee
P.S.  It’s less than four weeks until the Jamboree, so mark the date down - Saturday April 27th- at the Coventry Fire Hall

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Greetings everyone.  It’s great to be fresh back from Bike Week at Daytona and return to a fantastic weekend of musical venues.
Friday evening we were at Birtchy's Place on Conklin Road in Binghamton.  That was the beginning of our weekend of packed houses.  It was a great show with a lot of great people and a fun filled evening for sure.  It’s always a good feeling to see people appreciating the band and the music we play.  I’d like to send special thanks to all of our Frito Lay friends for stopping by and saying hello, not to mention a few selections on the bass with "magic fingers Herb” in the second set.  Thanks Herbie for sitting in with us.

On Saturday we played at the "Sickler Family Benefit".   We all arrived at the River Club around 1:00pm and it was a good thing we arrived when we did as you can see from the picture I shared from behind my drum kit at about 4:00pm, because the place was packed.
There were over 600 dinners served that day and we dare say as many as 800 people may have supported the event in total.  It was an Incredible turnout and truly the biggest indoor fundraiser we’ve played as a solo act in a good many years.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family for all that they have endured with the loss of Mike here last month.  We were glad we could help out for a great cause and nice people.
This weekend we have one show: Friday Night at the Hitchin' Post - on Belden Hill, Rt.7.  The show begins 9:00pm.

And finally, it’s a mere four weeks until one of the biggest days of musical performances begins.  Please mark your calendar for Saturday April 27th.  It’s the 5th annual "SHARE THE MUSIC / FEED THE PEOPLE Jamboree at our new location at The Coventry Fire Hall.  The price is the same as last year - $12 for a day of entertainment by six of the area’s best musical acts.  Food and drinks will be available,  50-50 Raffles,  auctions, and a car show  and motorcycle show.  Bring the whole family, we can't wait.
The show begins at 1:00pm.  We’ll see you at the crossroads of Rt.206 and Rt. 235 on April 27th.

Have a great Easter and God Bless everyone.  We hope to see you all very soon.
Peace,

Mikee Dee^^

Greetings everyone.  Well, if you missed either of last week’s shows - you missed a lot.  We had a lot of people come out to hear some great music and everyone had a great time overall.

It was still nice to see a fair amount of people out and about with so much that was going everywhere last weekend. Thank you all.

The shows must have been pretty good as we handed out quite a few band business cards and booked a few more shows for the future too. That's how I judge a good show. (Nice)

Check out the latest band photo on our blog page with the new guy.  The guy on the jammin keyboards that you just gotta come out and see is Kevin Rutherford.  We continue to settle in together as a unit and each and every show just gets a little better than the last one.  By summertime we'll be able to rock the Fillmore for sure.  (Well if it was still there we would)

In closing, both of our shows were fun and kicked ass from last week and because we have been working so hard the last few weeks our tour guide is giving us this weekend off.  (Sweet)

Look for the band on Saturday, March 9th at “On the Roxx”  on Court Street in Binghamton NY.

Have a great week and keep thinking Spring.  It will happen, along with Daylight Savings time next weekend as well.  Spring is ahead baby!

Peace and love,

Mikee^Dee

Greetings everyone.  Well, another week has come and gone as we continue to move closer and closer to daylight savings time on March 10th, then Spring the following week. (Hey it's all good!)
We were out on the road last week as we headed back to Davy's Last Chance Saloon in Chenango Forks to begin our 2013 season.  It was the first time we played up there as a four piece band (since we had Doc playing guitar at Davy's) so it had been a while.
We had a great crowd  that showed up, and came to see the new guy (Kevin Rutherford) spanking them 88's (keys)  It was also the first time ever we had our beloved Susie Vroman stop up and strap on the Gibson Les Paul guitar.  She not only strapped that bad boy on but she played some kick ass blues to boot.  It was also nice having Kevin on keys now for that Hammond blues sound.  The end result was nothing less then sweet!  (Susie you rock girl - nice job)

On to this week's shows, with a full weekend planned:

Friday Night we're at Birtchy's Joint, Conklin Road, Binghamton, NY - The show starts at 8pm .
Saturday Night we begin our fifth year at the Hitchin' Post  on Rt. 7 Belden Hill - The show starts at 9pm.

Come on out and say hello and help kick up a bit of cabin fever dust!

I'll catch you all on the flip side.  Peace and love,

-Mikee^Dee

The Short Change Band - February, 2013

We continue to move along on the calendar of time with St. Valentine’s Day on Thursday – wow! That means spring can't be too far off.

Do something different this week, go out to the shed or wherever your scoot lives, and hug your Harley. It’s probably pretty lonely about now. Tell ‘em that spring is about four weeks out. (Yeah baby)

We have one show - this Friday Evening at Davy's Last Chance Saloon in Chenango Forks. Stop down and meet the new guy {Kevin Rutherford} if you haven't already. We've been told that he completes the family, so judge yourself. The Show starts at 9:00pm.

We’ll see you there. Peace and Love,

Mikee Dee^

Greetings everyone.  I hope all is well throughout the valley as we wind down the first month of the new-year already. Wow! Bring on February!

We played a fantastic show for some friends of ours down at Gordy's Place.  The chicken wings were as good as ever and the place was packed.  There was standing room only by the third set.  It was nice to see so many people out on a Friday night even with the bad weather. Thank you all for your support.
We had our first band corporation meeting last Saturday as we continue our quest to become a business with the Short Change Band.  (more details as we go forward)

Sunday was the first Jamboree Committee meeting for 2013. It was a very productive meeting with many of the committee members coming up with great ideas and thoughts for our 5th annual Jamboree on April 27th, 2013.  We have four top named bands and a couple of acoustic acts all ready and willing to help out with this year’s "Share the Music and Feed the People" show.

We have a new location for the event this year at the Coventry Fire Hall and the start time is a bit later this year as well, beginning at 2:00 pm.  We hope with all that we have planned in activities and music that we should roll into the early evening once again.

We are even considering an open mic forum at the very end for some of the local talents if time allows.
Please look for further details as we move into the month of February. We're thinking the 5th annual will be our biggest and best Jamboree ever.  Again, block out that date on your calendar right now - April 27th, so you don't forget as we need your support.

On to this week in music: Friday evening at 8pm we will be playing at the VFW on Carroll Street in downtown Binghamton, NY.  So, stop down and say “hi” - but don't wait too long as it is only a three hour show.

Have great week and be safe and be good.

Peace,

Mikee^dee

Greetings everyone, I hope your week is going well.  Here’s a quick update to keep you in the loop with the Short Change Band.

Last weekend was the phenomena benefit for Kenzee’s family.  It was a great Jamboree at Golden Oak Golf Club. The event was put together very well and attendance was huge. We were only too glad to try and help out for such a worthwhile event.  I always wondered what Jared Campbell sounded like all these years and Saturday I got to hear him first hand. He is an incredible musician and if you ever get a chance to see him, you won't be disappointed.  (I promise)  He reminds me very much of Dave Matthews.  (but that's just me)

Then we moved on to the music of a band called “Intermission” partially made up of members of “Monkey's Typing” along with some friends.  The Short Change Band play next with the new four-piece arrangement, and Pawn Shop closed out the night.  At that point it was seven hours later and we were all packing up and literally patting each other on the back for a fantastic evening of music.  And I have to tell you that it meant a lot Kenzee's parents came up and shook our hands and thanked us at the end of the evening.  (What a perfect evening)

On to this Friday:  Once again The Short Change Band will return to Gordy's Place on old Rt.17, just outside of Windsor, for our annual “Cabin Fever Party”.  The show starts at 8pm.  Stop out early for some of Gordy’s favorite chicken wings.

We hope to see you all there.  Until then, peace and love,

Mikee Dee^

Greetings everyone, my goodness we are already half way through January, where does the time go?

Last weekend’s show at Seebers was a blast.  Our new keyboard player was right on.  He has already fully enhanced the Short Change Band in his first appearance. You know you’re making music when people are looking  at you while you’re playing and then handing out a ton of business cards after the first set.  Some fun times lie ahead for us I'm sure.  Welcome aboard Kevin Rutherford.

This weekend is the long awaited and much anticipated Tennant/Wheeler Family Benefit in honor of Little Kenzee.  It will take place on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at the Golden Oak Golf Course,  Rt.79 Windsor NY.  A Spaghetti Dinner is being offered as well as many raffle items. There will be live music by Jared Campbell, Intermission, Pawn Shop and the Short Change Band.
Please come down and help this family through a very difficult time.  We hope to see you all there.  The doors open 4pm.

Be good and be well and don't forget to mark your calendars for Saturday, April 27th for the 5th annual "Share The Music and Feed The People” Jamboree at a new location that is bigger and better than ever, not to mention this year’s musical acts.

Peace,

Mikee^Dee

Greetings everyone and welcome to a New Year. We've been pretty busy the last couple weeks as we are putting some of that “down- time” to good use.

First and foremost we would like to welcome our new session keyboard player "Kevin" to the Short Change Band. We had a great four hour practice last weekend and at the conclusion of the practice we decided to see where "keys" could take us in the first few months of 2013.

Saturday Night we return to Seeber’s Tavern in Downtown Smithville Flats.  The show begins at 9:00pm.
Come down and wish Kevin a warm Short Change welcome as history will certainly be made once again.
Our last lineup change was in January 2007 (about 300-400 shows ago) It’s going to be a smoking show – we can't wait.  We hope to see you all there.

In the upcoming weeks we have a couple important and exciting events you need to put on your 2013 calendar.

Saturday, January 19th we will be performing at a benefit show at Golden Oak Golf Course, 679, Rt. 79, Windsor, NY for the Tennant/Wheeler Family in honor of our little fallen angel Kenzee.  Check our website for exact start times and details.

And finally our 5th Annual “Share the Music and Feed the People” Jamboree will be held on Saturday April 27th.  We will have more information forthcoming.  If you have attended one of the Jamboree's in the past, you know how much fun they are.  It’s all about Good People, Great Music, Good Food, and a Great Cause.  We have a new Location for the event this year at the Coventry Fire Hall on Rt 206 in Coventry, NY.

Until next week, Peace and love baby,

-Mikee Dee

I sincerely hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year.  Let us take on 2013 together.
Past Events:  Last weekend the band celebrated the “almost annual” Christmas party up to the ranch. We dined on some hand cut BBQ Rib Eyes over a charcoal grill, and we enjoyed some nice Southern Whiskey and some common finger foods. We put all of that together with about five ohurs of poer and we had a “party”.  The next morning we went to the Silo for breakfast/Brunch and the present exchange.  We had a nice weekend!

New Years Eve: The band played at the Hallstead American Legion.  The people were great and we had a really good crowd and some fine music.  They already put the Short Change Band on the book for a repeat performance for New Year’s Eve 2013.  It was nice to play a show to a large group of people once again.  Also special thanks our buddy Phil for stopping by and jamming with us that evening.

This weekend we are off, but on Sunday we will be practicing some new music and we have also invited some new friends to jam with us for a little bit as well.  We don't get many opportunities to step back and explore new music unless we really dedicate ourselves to the fact.  This is what the off-season is all about.
Good, bad, or indifferent, many of our upcoming shows will be in the Triple Cites this winter and spring as the country bars are just drying up for live musical shows.

There are places so desperate for crowd participation that they hire the same band  for two weeks in the same month.  It's like slamming your hand in a door and all of it catches up with you after a while.  I would rather sit home then burn out like that.

The new year is also promising for the Short Change Band as we now have all become a part of the "BMI"- Broadcast Music, Inc.  BMI represents more than 550,000 songwriters, composers, and publishers with more than 7.5 million works.  The Short Change Band is in the beginning stages of becoming a full L.L.C. as well, so we have some business to tend to and this will give us some time to get it all done.

We also have some associates down south that have taken some of our newer material and entered it in a Sirius radio writers contest.  So we await the results of that as well.
We have some big things going on here the first quarter of 2013, so we will keep you all in the loop as these events happen.

As we close out, we would like to say thanks again for all of the support everyone has extended to us throughout 2012.  We anxiously await to see what 2013 holds in store for us.

Peace and Love,

-Mikee^Dee
