Greetings everyone.  I hope all is well throughout the valley as we wind down the first month of the new-year already. Wow! Bring on February!

We played a fantastic show for some friends of ours down at Gordy's Place.  The chicken wings were as good as ever and the place was packed.  There was standing room only by the third set.  It was nice to see so many people out on a Friday night even with the bad weather. Thank you all for your support.
We had our first band corporation meeting last Saturday as we continue our quest to become a business with the Short Change Band.  (more details as we go forward)

Sunday was the first Jamboree Committee meeting for 2013. It was a very productive meeting with many of the committee members coming up with great ideas and thoughts for our 5th annual Jamboree on April 27th, 2013.  We have four top named bands and a couple of acoustic acts all ready and willing to help out with this year’s "Share the Music and Feed the People" show.

We have a new location for the event this year at the Coventry Fire Hall and the start time is a bit later this year as well, beginning at 2:00 pm.  We hope with all that we have planned in activities and music that we should roll into the early evening once again.

We are even considering an open mic forum at the very end for some of the local talents if time allows.
Please look for further details as we move into the month of February. We're thinking the 5th annual will be our biggest and best Jamboree ever.  Again, block out that date on your calendar right now - April 27th, so you don't forget as we need your support.

On to this week in music: Friday evening at 8pm we will be playing at the VFW on Carroll Street in downtown Binghamton, NY.  So, stop down and say “hi” - but don't wait too long as it is only a three hour show.

Have great week and be safe and be good.

Peace,

Greetings everyone, I hope your week is going well.  Here’s a quick update to keep you in the loop with the Short Change Band.

Last weekend was the phenomena benefit for Kenzee’s family.  It was a great Jamboree at Golden Oak Golf Club. The event was put together very well and attendance was huge. We were only too glad to try and help out for such a worthwhile event.  I always wondered what Jared Campbell sounded like all these years and Saturday I got to hear him first hand. He is an incredible musician and if you ever get a chance to see him, you won't be disappointed.  (I promise)  He reminds me very much of Dave Matthews.  (but that's just me)

Then we moved on to the music of a band called “Intermission” partially made up of members of “Monkey's Typing” along with some friends.  The Short Change Band play next with the new four-piece arrangement, and Pawn Shop closed out the night.  At that point it was seven hours later and we were all packing up and literally patting each other on the back for a fantastic evening of music.  And I have to tell you that it meant a lot Kenzee's parents came up and shook our hands and thanked us at the end of the evening.  (What a perfect evening)

On to this Friday:  Once again The Short Change Band will return to Gordy's Place on old Rt.17, just outside of Windsor, for our annual “Cabin Fever Party”.  The show starts at 8pm.  Stop out early for some of Gordy’s favorite chicken wings.

We hope to see you all there.  Until then, peace and love,

Mikee Dee^

Greetings everyone, my goodness we are already half way through January, where does the time go?

Last weekend’s show at Seebers was a blast.  Our new keyboard player was right on.  He has already fully enhanced the Short Change Band in his first appearance. You know you’re making music when people are looking  at you while you’re playing and then handing out a ton of business cards after the first set.  Some fun times lie ahead for us I'm sure.  Welcome aboard Kevin Rutherford.

This weekend is the long awaited and much anticipated Tennant/Wheeler Family Benefit in honor of Little Kenzee.  It will take place on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at the Golden Oak Golf Course,  Rt.79 Windsor NY.  A Spaghetti Dinner is being offered as well as many raffle items. There will be live music by Jared Campbell, Intermission, Pawn Shop and the Short Change Band.
Please come down and help this family through a very difficult time.  We hope to see you all there.  The doors open 4pm.

Be good and be well and don't forget to mark your calendars for Saturday, April 27th for the 5th annual "Share The Music and Feed The People” Jamboree at a new location that is bigger and better than ever, not to mention this year’s musical acts.

Peace,

Mikee^Dee

Greetings everyone and welcome to a New Year. We've been pretty busy the last couple weeks as we are putting some of that “down- time” to good use.

First and foremost we would like to welcome our new session keyboard player "Kevin" to the Short Change Band. We had a great four hour practice last weekend and at the conclusion of the practice we decided to see where "keys" could take us in the first few months of 2013.

Saturday Night we return to Seeber’s Tavern in Downtown Smithville Flats.  The show begins at 9:00pm.
Come down and wish Kevin a warm Short Change welcome as history will certainly be made once again.
Our last lineup change was in January 2007 (about 300-400 shows ago) It’s going to be a smoking show – we can't wait.  We hope to see you all there.

In the upcoming weeks we have a couple important and exciting events you need to put on your 2013 calendar.

Saturday, January 19th we will be performing at a benefit show at Golden Oak Golf Course, 679, Rt. 79, Windsor, NY for the Tennant/Wheeler Family in honor of our little fallen angel Kenzee.  Check our website for exact start times and details.

And finally our 5th Annual “Share the Music and Feed the People” Jamboree will be held on Saturday April 27th.  We will have more information forthcoming.  If you have attended one of the Jamboree's in the past, you know how much fun they are.  It’s all about Good People, Great Music, Good Food, and a Great Cause.  We have a new Location for the event this year at the Coventry Fire Hall on Rt 206 in Coventry, NY.

Until next week, Peace and love baby,

-Mikee Dee

I sincerely hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year.  Let us take on 2013 together.
Past Events:  Last weekend the band celebrated the “almost annual” Christmas party up to the ranch. We dined on some hand cut BBQ Rib Eyes over a charcoal grill, and we enjoyed some nice Southern Whiskey and some common finger foods. We put all of that together with about five ohurs of poer and we had a “party”.  The next morning we went to the Silo for breakfast/Brunch and the present exchange.  We had a nice weekend!

New Years Eve: The band played at the Hallstead American Legion.  The people were great and we had a really good crowd and some fine music.  They already put the Short Change Band on the book for a repeat performance for New Year’s Eve 2013.  It was nice to play a show to a large group of people once again.  Also special thanks our buddy Phil for stopping by and jamming with us that evening.

This weekend we are off, but on Sunday we will be practicing some new music and we have also invited some new friends to jam with us for a little bit as well.  We don't get many opportunities to step back and explore new music unless we really dedicate ourselves to the fact.  This is what the off-season is all about.
Good, bad, or indifferent, many of our upcoming shows will be in the Triple Cites this winter and spring as the country bars are just drying up for live musical shows.

There are places so desperate for crowd participation that they hire the same band  for two weeks in the same month.  It's like slamming your hand in a door and all of it catches up with you after a while.  I would rather sit home then burn out like that.

The new year is also promising for the Short Change Band as we now have all become a part of the "BMI"- Broadcast Music, Inc.  BMI represents more than 550,000 songwriters, composers, and publishers with more than 7.5 million works.  The Short Change Band is in the beginning stages of becoming a full L.L.C. as well, so we have some business to tend to and this will give us some time to get it all done.

We also have some associates down south that have taken some of our newer material and entered it in a Sirius radio writers contest.  So we await the results of that as well.
We have some big things going on here the first quarter of 2013, so we will keep you all in the loop as these events happen.

As we close out, we would like to say thanks again for all of the support everyone has extended to us throughout 2012.  We anxiously await to see what 2013 holds in store for us.

Peace and Love,

-Mikee^Dee
