Greetings to you all.  We are one week out from Halloween and ultimately, the year is coming to a close faster then any of us would like.

Following Halloween comes Thanksgiving, then Christmas and then we start all over into the next year.  Every year it seems to go by a little bit faster then the last and every year another series of band gigs come and go.

What we do as a band when were not playing music is a lot of fun too and I wouldn't trade a single party or gig for the fun and the places this band has been. Just this year alone we've spent valuable time together.  We're a truly a unique group, and the good time are priceless.  I just had to say that as I close in on year number 30 for myself and Kevin Michael Winters (crazy!)   We play every gig like it could be your last and enjoy the ride.  (That's my philosophy)

We have one show this week-
This Saturday Night we are back in Down Town Nineveh Junction at The
Central Hotel and Tavern - There's a Chicken BBQ in the afternoon and the Short Change Band at 7:00pm

Hope to see you all out and about!

Peace,

Greetings everyone and happy “Fall” to you.

What a crazy summer it has been for the Short Change Gang.  Now after just getting back from our Atlantic City tour, we are ready to get back to work and play some serious music again.
And what a great year it has been for playing various shows and venues for us.  We’ve played reunions, benefits. Festivals, fairs, roasts, and the list goes on. I think we finally found that happy medium that works for us all.

This year we settled in on about 50-55 shows (which is down from the days of 70-80+ shows) but that gives us a bit of break in between the craziness, and some down time that's good.
We also made sure to hit the greens a few times this year as well.  We had great weather for our golf outings, so it's all good.

This week once again we have 2 shows:
Friday- 9-26-14 at the Hitchin' Post - Revisit of the Working Man’s Friday' venue - showtime 9pm - midnight
Saturday - 9-27-14- Central Hotel and Tavern {Function at the Junction Show} showtime 7pm.

So there you have it.  I can't believe next week will take us into October already.  In Closing, I hope all is good in your world and thank you all once again for your continued support.  Remember this "We may not sell a lot of albums - but we sure sell a lot of beer"

Peace out,

Mid Summer of 2014 with the Short Change Band

Greetings Everyone.  We’re already into mid-to-late summer 2014.  Don't ask me where the time has gone but I can tell you this, it's been a crazy year for shows and events.

It seems like just yesterday we were headed off  to see Hank Williams Jr. and Charlie Daniels in concert at Tags.  Then the “Fest” season began, and now we are looking into August.  (crazy!)
This week the band is off to play in a golf tournament.  Starting next week, the month of August promises to be a very busy month for us.

I have a couple news updates from the band in the summer of 2014.  First, we continue to submit original material out to networks and publishers hoping to get our chance at the brass ring of music sales. I am totally amazed at how many other bands are on this same journey.  The competition is fierce in today’s social media driven markets.

Second, we just finished up with the brand new re-mix version of “Jack Daniels Whiskey”.  The song has a nice new fresh sound.  We also hope to have something new in the works by the year’s end.  We’d like to send special “Thanks” to Dean, our sound engineer.  Thank you Dean for all of your hard work as well as the continued encouragement.

So as the summer burns on, make sure you get your monies worth with every passing day.  Things are good at “Band Camp”!

Greetings again everyone.  I hope you are all enjoying our Spring into Summer weather.  I can't believe the new year will be almost half over by the time you all read this current blog entry.

So let's get to it.
Here's what's new with the Short Change Band for June 2014:
First off this weekend we will begin the "Outdoor Summer Showcase Series" with our second and third outdoor performances.

One will be a private party (Friday Night) and the second on Saturday is something with a bit of a different twist involved.  We will also kick off our first of two semi-unplugged shows for the month of June as well.  The first being at the Hitchin' Post this Saturday-on the Tiki Deck at 2pm.  Come down for a late lunch or an early dinner and see the band too!  There's no cover and plenty of food and drink specials.

The following Friday Evening (Jun 13th) we will be back at the Central Hotel for the second showcase of our Unplugged Series.  There are some exciting times that await the band.  We truly enjoy the outside shows and parties throughout the entire summer season.

In other news, we've submitted some materials to Reverb Nation and await a response from them in the upcoming future.  We are even talking about recording some new material this fall and possibly even remixing some of the older tracks to include "Travis" on some of the keyboard parts.

In closing, we have some fun times that await the band.  We also cut back just a bit on the show schedule to pencil in some "stop and smell the roses" time for the 2014 summer.  So it's all good.

We're looking forward to seeing  you all down the road this summer.

Peace and be safe,

-Mikee Dee

Greetings everyone, here’s a couple of quick notes before the day of the bunny arrives.

We've all been crazy busy and March came in like a lion and left the same way, and it took us right into April - so here we go.

We have two shows this week - Friday Night Live at Birtchys Joint in Binghamton on Conklin Road.  Show Time is 8pm – 12am.  Tomorrow night we’re playing at a totally new Venue - Live at the Rainbow Lodge in Walton.  Show Time is 9pm – 1am.

Next Week (Friday night) it’s the last of the spring series of “Workin’ Man Fridays at the Hitchin’ Post” – Show Time is 9:00pm – 12:00am.  Saturday, April 26th is the 6th annual Share the Music and Feed the People Jamboree:  The Show time is 12 noon at the Coventry Fire Hall with a $10 donation at the door.  Come help us feed the People and enjoy music from six  different acts – win door prizes – win 50-50's – and have fun!  {Sound provided this year by the Infamous Captain Walt] - Tell your friends

The following week we're on the road to Harriman College for the last great reunion show.  We're loading up the trucks and headed towards the city for what will truly be the show of the year.

Then finally a bit of a vacation down to South Carolina for Myrtle Beach Bike Week.

So, in closing, we're playing, having fun and looking forward to some nice sunny weather pretty soon.  Everyone have a safe and happy Easter weekend and we’ll catch you on the flip side.
God Bless with peace and love,

-Mikee^Dee

I hope everyone had a Happy Saint Patrick's Day.  We had another fantastic evening on Saturday celebrating our annual band dinner outing.  We try to do these at least once or twice a year, and we have a blast when we do.

After seeing the movie “Non-Stop”, I don't think I care to fly in the air anytime soon either.  As we move into the second quarter of 2014, I stood back and took a look at where we came from as a band over the past 8 years.  First, we moved from a six-piece band in 2007, then returned as a three-piece lineup and now to we’re a four-piece band.  We seem to be very happy with our current lineup with the addition of Travis on the keys in 2013.

We are a band with five studio albums under our belts and 60+ tracks of original tunes, including the likes of “Jack Daniels Whiskey”, “The Welfare Song”, “Take the High Road”, and  ballads such as "Cindy's Song" and "Just About To Lose My Mind”, just to name a few.

Over the years, Kevin's writing skills along with the ability of the band to bring those songs to life have
taken on a whole new feeling when we play our own tunes and now we could play an entire evening of originals if we chose to do so.

We’ve played at several different venues, including clubs in Myrtle Beach,  the Infamous “Oasis” in Florida and even the boardwalk in Atlantic City.  And everywhere we go we have a blast!  I really don't know of too many other bands that play together, dine together, and even vacation together like we do as in the Short Change Band.  It's who we are and I wouldn't trade any of it for anything.

So as we go forward, the last three years we played almost every weekend and loaded as many five gigs
into a single week.  The days of the 80+ shows a year are on the back burner for now as we are taking on a more mellow approach for 2014.  This includes more Band social time and less stage time.  Instead of the phone calling out, we'll let it ring in - and if it doesn't, there's always a golf course somewhere with our
name just a waiting for us!

So if you don't see us tearing it down as much this year- we're still here, just bonding.

And in closing, thank you all for the sweet ride we've had and the ride we're continued on.

This Friday we are back in Binghamton for one show – Birtchy’s Joint, Conklin Road, Binghamton.
The show time is 8:00 pm.  We hope to see you there.

Peace and love,

Mikee Dee^^^

Greetings everyone and welcome to 2014.  We’re three weeks into February and we are ready to begin the Short Change Band 2014 journey.  The Woodchucks have seen their shadows.

It was nice to sit out these snowy weekends this winter (we had few of them) along with below zero weather nights (Ugh!) it really makes you appreciate a nice warm fire and a cold beer at home. But this weekend we're going to change all that as we load up the bus and take it back once more to where it all began so many years ago - "The Central Hotel and Tavern"

I can't believe it has been 27 years now we have opened almost every show year at the hotel.  It seems like just yesterday.

This weekend’s show is a special one and we will probably kick it off with songs we haven't played in some time to keeps things fresh.  If you’d like to head down memory lane and travel back with the boys, come see us.  The show starts at 6:00pm – It’s an early start for a fun evening.  We hope to see you all there.

And, when you see “Travis” our Keyboard player, wish him a happy one year anniversary with the band.  We’re looking forward to making a ton of new memories in 2014, so c'mon along and let's share some.

Peace and love,

Mikee DEE
