I hope everyone had a Happy Saint
Patrick's Day.
We had another fantastic evening on Saturday celebrating our
annual band dinner outing. We try to do
these at least once or twice a year, and we have a blast when we do.
After seeing the movie “Non-Stop”, I
don't think I care to fly in the air anytime soon either. As we move into the second quarter of 2014, I
stood back and took a look at where we came from as a band over the past 8
years. First, we moved from a six-piece band
in 2007, then returned as a three-piece lineup and now to we’re a four-piece
band. We seem to be very happy with our
current lineup with the addition of Travis on the keys in 2013.
We are a band with five studio albums under our belts and 60+ tracks of original tunes, including the likes of “Jack Daniels Whiskey”, “The Welfare Song”, “Take the High Road”, and ballads such as "Cindy's Song" and "Just About To Lose My Mind”, just to name a few.
Over the years, Kevin's writing skills along with the ability of the band to bring those songs to life have
taken on a whole new feeling when we play our own tunes and now we could play an entire evening of originals if we chose to do so.
We’ve played at several different
venues, including clubs in Myrtle Beach, the Infamous “Oasis” in Florida and even the
boardwalk in Atlantic City. And
everywhere we go we have a blast! I
really don't know of too many other bands that play together, dine
together, and even vacation together like we do as in the Short Change Band. It's who we are and I wouldn't trade any of
it for anything.
So as we go forward, the last three years
we played almost every weekend and loaded as many five gigs
into a single week. The days of the 80+ shows a year are on the back burner for now as we are taking on a more mellow approach for 2014. This includes more Band social time and less stage time. Instead of the phone calling out, we'll let it ring in - and if it doesn't, there's always a golf course somewhere with our
name just a waiting for us!

So if you don't see us tearing it
down as much this year- we're still here, just bonding.
And in closing, thank you all for the sweet ride we've had and the ride we're continued on.
This Friday we are back in Binghamton for one show – Birtchy’s Joint, Conklin Road, Binghamton.
The show time is 8:00 pm. We hope to see you there.
Peace and love,
Mikee Dee^^^
