Greetings everyone, this will be the last blog of 2012, and we just want to thank "you" and all of friends for their loyal support throughout the 2012 year.

Hopefully as dreadful as 2012 was for live music support in general, this will finally be the "low” before we start to turn around the process in 2013.  (Here’s a quote from a famous tune - "You guys sound really good, but don't ya got no friends?" How true it is…)

It's always fun to play our music with great friends and other fellow musicians to help support a cause or just to make some good old fashion music together. This may very well be our band’s mission statement for 2013 as well.

Also in 2013, we will become an L.L.C. early next year as The Short Change Band will finally become a business venture.  (we’ll have more about that as the new year takes hold)

So as we close out one year and begin another, you can come and see us NEW YEARS EVE at The HALLSTEAD LEGION in Hallstead, PA (just over the border in Pennsylvania)  The Show begins at 9pm.  There’s no cover charge, just good friends and cheap booze. Enjoy!

Be safe and travel carefully in the upcoming days as winter makes an appearance once again.

Peace and Love,

Greetings to you all!  Let the countdown begin toward 2013.  We are mere days from the beginning of a new year and here's hoping 2013 is much improved from 2012.  It's been a very tough year on people in general, the economy, the music business - where do I start?  Next year has got to get better.  Here's to a true "Happy New Year"!

Review from last week’s gigs:  Friday evening we were at the VFW on Carroll Street in Binghamton.  WE had an excellent show with a good crowd and a great location.  We will be back in the New Year to do it again on February 2, 2013.  The VFW hopes to have more in the way of live musical acts in the future. What a great workout too!  Saturday night was the final show at the Central Hotel & Tavern.  We had a low crowd turnout over the last few months that have forced the cancellation of any live music at the Hotel at least for the foreseeable future.

These day’s clubs and bars have all to do to capture your almighty buck.  If you’re not serving food and lots of it then you’re not going to pay the electric bill just by popping open cans and offering a band every now and then.  This has been happening everywhere from Sidney to Windsor and from Port Crane to Endicott - low turnout at clubs period.  And again here's hoping the New Year improves the club and bar scenes while there are  still some places left to go and have a drink to share some time with friends and unwind.  “The Times They Are a Changin'”

Once again, thanks to all of the people who came out to jam with the SCB one final time at the Central Hotel.  It made the night very special for sure.

Our last show of the year is this Friday before New Year’s Eve.  We’ll be live at the Hitchin' Post.  The show begins 8pm.  Stop down and share a cocktail with the band if you can, we would love to see you all for the holidays.

Peace out and be well, and hug a Reindeer,

Short Change Band - Second Week of December, 2012

Greetings everyone!  We are now at week number 49 this year.  It’s just mere days before the big guy in the red suit makes his annual visit.  Then shortly after that, we start another year.  My only comment is: Where did 2012 go?

We were in Myrtle Beach during Easter break and in Atlantic City just after Labor Day, and by Columbus day we were in Greenville, S.C.  Now it's mid December and the year has almost ended. (wow..)  There’s so much to do in so little time.

The band events slowed down just a bit in 2012 as we are just shy of completing 70 shows.  In 2011 we played just over 80 shows, so I guess we can blame it on a down economy.

This was also the first year that I can ever remember where we had a number of show cancellations.  In the 26 years I've been a Short Change Band member, we had a handful of gigs cancelled that entire time.  This year we had our share as well.  Hopefully 2013 will enter the "Light in the Tunnel” year for entertainment.
I have this scary feeling that one day all the live musical acts will be replaced by Kindle Fire programs.  We are all truly a dinosaur life form of live music.

We’d like to pass on special thanks last week for two great shows: Birtchy's Joint on Friday and Babcock's on Saturday night.  Once again we rocked the houses.  Special thanks to our brother Cliffy for sitting in at Babcock's on the six string and our other brother Chucky for some fantastic sound quality that evening.  Also thanks to Brian for letting us use your equipment, it served us quite well.

So as we move into this weekend, we have two public shows:
Friday at 8pm at the VFW on Caroll Street in Binghamton - a new venue for us.
Saturday evening we perform our last 2012 show for the Central Hotel and Tavern.  It’s a Christmas Party of sorts I'm told.  Showtime is 6pm.

We hope to see you all out and about, so please stop by and say hello to the band and drink a toast for another year of service and friendship with Kevin, Darrell and myself.

Peace and love  and we hope to see you all soon.  Only 4 more shows until 2013....wow that went fast!  Making music this year with the "Honky Tonk Band Of Brothers!

Short Change Band - Beginning of December, 2012

Greetings everyone, as we move forward into week #48 of the year, the time is moving so quickly as we head into 2013.  In mere weeks we will walk into a next year and the Short Change Band is making some big plans for that upcoming year.

We already have bookings into next fall, but the biggest event I can say that excites us the most is the fact that we will become an "Incorporated" business.  (Yep) we're taking the ultimate business approach as where if anyone is to hear some of those 5+ albums of music we have put together, so we need to take on more of a business presence both locally and outside the area.
We're not loading up a tour bus or anything, or kissing the wives goodbye just yet, but we're taking the next step. Wish us luck at our new venture as we are all excited as to where it takes us, even if it's just around the next bend.

Last week’s show at Davy's Last Chance was fun.  We had a good crowd and everyone had a great time once again at our home away from home in Chenango Forks.

This week we're on for two shows.

Friday Evening - we return to Birtchy's on Conklin Ave in Binghamton.  The show time is 8:00pm.  (Remember those great wings - Yummm... We’ll see you there!)

Saturday Evening we return for our final Babcock's show for the 2012 season.  Babcock’s is located in on Rt. 7 in Wells Bridge, just past the Unadilla Drive-In on Rt. 7.  Hey come out and see us on the big stage for that full concert dance hall feel no one else has.  The show starts at 9pm.  We’ll see you all out and about this weekend.

And remember, it's about three weeks before Christmas, time to head out somewhere, so it might as well be headed out to see us too!

Peace and love,

Mikee^Dee...
